About Beryl & Blade
The Art of Faceting, In Singapore
I'm a passionate gemcutter based in Singapore, with the goal of bringing the art of faceting to our country. Faceting is the delicate dance of cutter and crystal, guided by color, angles, depth, meetpoints, optical properties, and crystal orientation. I aim to transform rough stones into brilliant, precision-cut gems that shine with life - and as I continue learning, every gem brings me closer to mastering this intricate craft.

My Story
I first fell in love with faceting when a simple anniversary project, a wire-wrapped ring, didn’t turn out as planned. The two precision-cut gemstones, a Cambodian Zircon and a Synthetic Green Spinel, that I bought from Jeff Davies & Son opened my eyes to the beauty of a well-cut gem. That curiosity led me to a faceting book, then a faceting machine, and now countless hours of practice. Today, I continue learning and experimenting every day, still captivated by the art of transforming rough stones into beautiful, sparkly gems.

My Vision
At Beryl & Blade, I aim to bring fairly-priced precision-cut gemstones, as well as unusual and uncommon gems, including stones with intriguing inclusions, unique shapes, and fascinating synthetics, to Singapore. Beyond offering beautiful gems, I hope to share the art of faceting and deepen appreciation for gemstones, helping Singaporeans discover the craftsmanship, science, and stories behind each stone.

My Philosophy
The gemstone trade can be confusing for the layman, from traditional cutting methods that prioritize weight over brilliance to pricing that’s difficult to gauge without experience. At Beryl & Blade, I aim to change that by educating people on what to look for when buying a gem, while offering high-quality, precision-cut gemstones at transparent prices. I leave it to each customer to make a fair and informed decision, based on that solid foundation of knowledge.
